Synopsis

[Wilshire Memorial
The scene opens with Matt driving racing down the city streets towards Wilshire Memorial. Billy is in the passenger seat pointing the way to the hospital, as if Matt doesn't know how to get to the place where he's been doing his residency for the past year. Matt tells Billy he knows where he's going, then proceeds to jump the curb with his Jeep right into the Wilshire Memorial parking lot. (That's about the most off-roading that a SUV will see from a yuppie). In the Emergency area, Craig is informed that Sydney didn't make it. Craig says, "I see," then starts to bawl. Jennifer Mancini looks at him and thinks, she'd like to "ball" too, but Craig pushes her away. At first, you don't know whether Craig's crying because he just lost his wife, or because his haircut looks worse than Kyle's. Matt finds out that Sam is going to be okay. Billy tries to comfort Craig, but Craig tells Billy, and everybody else in the Emergency room for that matter, to shut up. All the strangers in the room, who weren't talking anyway, turn and look at Craig, who then shouts that he'll make sure Sammie pays for what she did.

[Amanda's Apt]
The sex last night was so good, Kyle awakes and thinks he's seeing spots. But he is seeing spots, leopard spots that is, for he is in the safari room known as Amanda's bedroom, where many a man has been tamed. Amanda confesses, "You know, I haven't done anything like this, since..." When? A few episodes ago? She tells Kyle that she still has to go to New York. Kyle's eyes widen and he protests, "No, no, no!" Amanda assures him she's going there simply to turn down a job offer, but Kyle persists, saying, "Do it over the phone! Call him!" Amanda pushes the receiver away, explaining, "This guy doesn't take rejection well." The question is, is she talking about the guy in NY, or about the guy lying next to her? Kyle pouts, and hops out of bed. Well, that answers that question!

[Bayview Pines Hotel, Carmel]
Peter returns from a two hour stroll. Taylor, worried out of her mind, tells him she didn't just say she was pregnant, she can prove it. But Peter says he believes her, adding "I realized that this pregnancy might be exactly what I needed to force me to act." Hmm, maybe Billy should get Sam pregnant, ya' think? Anyway, while he was out walking, he stopped off at a Long's Drugs and bought her a ring. He then proposes to Taylor, who -- surprise! -- accepts.

[Wilshire Memorial]
Jennifer pays Michael a visit, and spoon feeds him, both literally and figuratively. She warns him that Megan is thoroughly disgusted with him, but Gauze-paws Mancini seems more eager for the tapioca than news of his wife's feelings. Jennifer informs Michael that Megan moved out of the beach house and into her place, and that Peter is up in Carmel getting married to Taylor. Jennifer volunteers to help Michael get back together with Megan as long as he grants her one favor, no matter what it is that she asks. He agrees. Meanwhile, Billy arrives with a basket of flowers for Sam, not Michael, and is met by detective Walker in the hall. She tells Billy that it was clear the guilty party was Jim Reilly, and that he was responsible for his death and Syd's. Then she adds, "The sad part is, this whole thing could have been avoided if you two had just come to us in the first place." Wrong. If Aaron Spelling wasn't such a tight wad, Sydney would still be here. Billy goes in to see how Sam's doing. You can tell she's fine because she only suffered a head wound, and is wearing one of those "two-episode" bandages on her forehead. Sam tells Billy that last night she was just trying to get to him, to tell him how much she loves him. Billy accepts her explanation, and that it more than justifies the taking of two lives.

[Upstairs Jazz Club]
Jennifer is late to work, and is hassled by Kyle, who quips, "Did you have to much to drink at Sydney and Craig's wedding reception last night or what?" Jennifer realizes Kyle hasn't heard the news yet, so she says "Sydney was killed." Kyle asks "Where?" But before Jennifer can say, "On the windshield," Kyle shakes his head and tells her he's heard enough. Then Jennifer makes Kyle feel guilty for having run off to satisfy his carnal urges while another poor waitress he used and disposed of, bled to death in her wedding gown.

[New York, New York]
Amanda arrives in NY to turn down a job offer from her old colleague, Eric Baines. It's the same company where she began her career, starting as a memo-taker just like Alison did at D&D. She explains that she's grateful, but she wants to run a small club that she owns with a friend. It's her reason for not wanting to leave L.A. He tries to talk her out of her decision, saying that she's stupid to give up her position for a man. Despite his advice, she passes on his offer and leaves. Eric then throws another pass, tossing a vase like it was a football.

[Cemetary]
It's a cemetery, although the caption says "Cleveland, Ohio." Same difference I guess. A stranger kneels before the tombstone of Kimberly Shaw. As he places a bouquet of flowers at her gravesite he utters, "Michael is going to pay for what he did. Good-bye Kimberly. I'll be back some day." Yeah right, more like when he's dead!

[Jennifer's Apt]
Megan is staying over, and she and Jennifer talk sh!t about Michael. Either it's too early in the morning, or Megan lives the life of blonde jokes, but in either case, Jennifer starts complementing her, yet insulting her at the same time. All Megan can do is stare blankly with her cup of coffee in hand. Before Megan can take a shower, Jennifer adds, "I know you're right, Michael's a rat. I just hope you'll be happy without him."

[Cemetary in CA]
Craig is having a memorial service for Sydney. Everyone who is anyone on this show arrives. Unfortunately, Elton John had a prior engagement, so he couldn't make it. Still, even Billy and Sam show up. But Craig is still grumpy about not having a singer for his princess' service. He lashes out at Samantha, causing her to run away as reckless as when she was driving the other night. Then he tells Billy to hold the fort at Sky High while he takes Syd's body back to Chicago.

[Bayview Pines Hotel, Carmel]
Peter and Taylor are watching golf on TV. Taylor complains that Peter only likes to watch, and that he hasn't made a hole-in-one with her in a long, long time. Peter replies that he's got a lot on his mind and can't seem to use his driver, and right now all he's got is his putter. He says he wants to save the physical thing for after the wedding tomorrow. Taylor finds Peter's bloodied shirt, so Peter explains that he got into a fight with Michael, probably due to his rage epilepsy (oh gawd, I hate that thing.) He says he'll never forget it.

[Crematorium]
Some people are into sailing, others into flying -- Sam's dad was into smoking, so Sam grants his last wish by turning him into a big pile of ashes. As she and Billy watch her dad's body go up in flames, she warns Billy that her father soiled her with hate before he died. Billy says she'll be all right, but she flies into a rage, yelling, "Why'd you do this to me?"

[Billy & Sam's Apt]
The next morning, Sam calls her mom, Kate Reilly, serving her the "bad" news about dad. And speaking of serving, Kate tells Sam she's got to go because her order of hash is up. Sam begs for some relief from the feeling that she's to blame, but her mom tells her, "Sorry, I can't help you. Got to go. Order up."

[Wilshire Memorial]
Matt show Michael an application for an A.I.D.S. research position in S.F., and wants Michael to recommend him for the job. Michael says he can't sign anything, reminding Matt he has no hands. But, Michael recognizes the doctor running the program and tells Matt it's a school chum of his, so instead of a signature, Michael tells Matt he'll simply call his friend! Somehow, dialing a push-button phone will be easier. You'd think the fact that the doctor in S.F. is one of Michael's good med school friends would make Matt at least a little wary, but Matt's so excited about possibly leaving the show that he could care less. Then they're interrupted when a new doctor on the staff, Dr. Brett Cooper enters to introduce himself to the new Chief-of-Staff. Cooper waned to do Michael a favor by introducing him to a top hand surgeon from UCLA that he knows. What part of the hand is considered the top is beyond me, but that's why I'm not a doctor. Michael is very interested, even though it looks like he'll need his entire hand, not just the top, operated on.

[Upstairs Jazz Club]
As Kyle and Jennifer take inventory, Amanda returns and she and Kyle start hugging and kissing. "Are we working, or our you going to mate right in front of me?" Jennifer asks. Kyle replies, "Why don't you go back and see if you can find a case of McBride?" Please, aren't two McBrides enough on this show!?

[Church in Carmel]
Taylor and Peter wed before the entire town, whose residents have nothing better to do. I guess they don't get cable in that town yet. Then the minister asks if there is anyone who knows why these two should not be joined in holy matrimony, to let them speak now, or forever hold their peace. Well, since Taylor and Peter are strangers to the entire congregation and vice versa, the only one who could speak up is Peter... which he does. He tells Taylor he's known all about her scheming with Michael, the lies, the drugs, the fake beatings. He calls her a slut, then throws her to the floor on her hands and knees, which is a pretty good position for that type of person. He tells her he nearly vomits every time the thought of her being the mother of his child enters his mind.

[Wilshire Memorial]
Matt is pushing Michael around in his wheelchair. The way Michael's paws are bandaged up, he'd be a cinch for the lead role in an invalid version of Cats. Matt finds out that he got a job in S.F. Michael directs Matt to take him to his Chief-of-Staff office. When they enter the room, they find Dr. Cooper standing by the desk. Michael asks him what he's doing there, and he answers that he was actually looking for Michael. Dr. Cooper wanted to tell Michael that the doctor who does hand jobs is available, as early as tomorrow if Michael's "up" for it. Matt's ears sure perk up when he hears this. Michael tells Coop that he owes him one for this. Coop replies, "Well, if you know of a cheap apt, that'd be great because I got to move out of my motel soon." Does Wilshire Memorial pay that bad? Anyway, Michael tells Cooper that he could move into Matt's apt, as early as tomorrow. Matt looks at Michael, and Michael says, "Oh, I forgot to tell you. You got the job in San Francisco." Now Matt's eyes really light up, and he gives Michael a great big job. If Michael wasn't already scheduled for a hand job tomorrow, Matt would've given him one right then and there. Instead, Michael tells Matt that despite their differences, he'll really miss the silly boy.

[MP Courtyard]
Matt goes from apt to apt, wanting to say good-bye to everyone, but no one's home. So he reminisces his times at Melrose Place, all the way back to those carefree days with Rhonda. Always the door-Matt, he doesn't even get a nice send off...

[Upstairs Jazz Club]
Taylor returns from her romantic weekend getaway, and immediately starts her complaining. Kyle asks how her weekend was with the shaggy-haired doctor, so Taylor informs him Peter is not well and she doesn't care to see him ever again. Amanda pops her head in to suggest that the two of them see less of each other. Taylor replies, "That might a little difficult, since Matt just rented me Jake Hanson's old apt before he left." Amanda is shocked. First, that Matt left, and that Taylor's now a resident there.

[Billy & Sam's Apt]
It is now 1:06 am, and Billy awakes to find himself lying in bed alone. He goes to the other room to find Sam painting. She got a burst of inspiration and wanted to get it down on canvas. The painting is a self-portrait, and it looks like she's working at a Burger King, "flame-broiling" things. An outstretched hand covers her mouth, as if they're trying to keep her from telling people they reheat burgers in the microwave.

[Syd's Apt]
Craig is sitting alone with the pile of wedding gifts. He reads one of the wedding cards, which drives him to his version of rage epilepsy. He flings the door open and starts throwing and kicking gift boxes into the courtyard. Jennifer, obvious by the short skirt she's wearing that she's just returning from work, runs over to try to calm him. Amidst the many white gifts strewn about the patio, she reaches down and happens to find the gift from Sydney. It's a pocket watch with the inscription: "Craig, Time doesn't matter, our love if forever. Love, Your Wife Sydney" She tells Craig not to destroy, but to treasure, and it'll last forever. Tears start dripping from Craig's eyes, but their not the only thing dripping, as Jennifer takes his head and buries it down between her legs in an effort to comfort him.

[Wilshire Memorial]
As you very well know, when the sun goes down, that's when the action begins. It's no different tonight. As Michael lay sleeping, an ominous shadow crawls over him. Either the shrill of the violins, or the shadow causes Michael to wake up. But just as he does, the figure grabs Michael by the throat. Oh, it's only Peter, there to get Michael's attention. Peter promises to destroy Michael for everything Michael did to him. Peter tells Michael that he's in for a lot of pain, and that he'll be enjoying every minute of it. As Peter leaves, he warns, "You better stay awake Michael. You never know who may sneak back in."
